Representation on Safety Height of Aerial Photographic Aircraft

2018/11/24

China General Airlines:

Your company's "Request for Safe Altitude in Use of Aerial Photographic Aircraft" has been received. The safety altitude of aerial photography flight for King of the Air, Otter of the Air and Transport-12 aircraft is supplemented as follows:

(1) The highest flight altitude (altitude):

King of the Air: not more than 10,000 meters;

Double otter, transport - 12: no more than 7000 meters;

(2) The lowest flight altitude of an aircraft (the true height of the highest point within the safe distance from the photographic area and the side and front):

King of the Air: no less than 600 meters;

Double otter, Yun-12: No less than 400 meters.

(3) When there are hills on the side and front of the photographic area that do not meet the flight safety altitude, the following provisions shall be observed:

1. Side safe distance:

King of the Air: not less than 5 kilometers;

Double otter, Yun-12:Not less than 3 kilometers.

2. Safe distance ahead:

King of the Air: not less than 7 kilometers;

Double otter, Yun-12:Not less than 4 kilometers.

In planning zoning, the safety distance on the side is the sum of the distance between half of the photograph and the ground and the number of kilometers mentioned above; the safety distance on the front is the sum of two baselines corresponding to the ground distance, the horizontal flight distance for 30 seconds using the aircraft type, the turning radius and the prescribed number of kilometers mentioned above.

(4) When two or more aircraft operate in relative or adjacent zones:

1. When approaching or flying over each other's zones, the altitude difference between aircraft is not less than 300 meters.

2. When operating in adjacent zones, if the altitude difference between aircraft is less than 300 meters, the safe distance must be kept in the same direction as the line of measurement, or the two sides should be propelled separately from the middle. The distance between aircraft is:

King of the Air: not less than 7 kilometers;

Double otter, Yun-12:Not less than 4 kilometers.

When the King of the Air performs a large-scale aerial photography mission, his altitude is calculated according to the safe altitude of the two otters.

The remaining provisions shall still be implemented in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Flight Regulations and the Professional Flight Rules.

It is hoped that the above-mentioned regulations will be carefully studied and strictly implemented in aerial photography production to ensure flight safety.
